Deteriorating daily? LC

Can things really change so fast?? Hubby was eating a full English breakfast last Friday en route to visit friends, ok had oxygen bottle in car just in case, but walked to the house etc

Today he's in Hospice,  has no energy to move from bed  is breathless and struggling with talking.  Dr said he probably won't come home as has deteriorated so much since Tuesday when she saw him.
Can it really be that fast????   He's 59   lung cancer now spread everywhere

  • Yes it can my dad died within 5 weeks from diagnosis and the 4th week I saw him I thought he was getting better I was wrong !

  • I know this is an old post but my dad was similar. He was diagnosed 9 weeks before he passed, he died suddenly after we now think he was showing signs of being end of life. He struggled to swallow food, was in pain, didn't want to eat, or drink, struggling to walk, in and out of sleep constantly. He even had the sudden burst of energy, able to eat, drink, talk, wide awake, walk, no pain on the morning of his passing that people say they experience. He suffered a cardiac arrest while walking to wheelchair to go to first round of treatment, as everyone told us it would be manageable and treatable. It's awful, I feel robbed of time and also robbed of being able to have the conversations I wanted to have with him as we all thought he had more time. I always thought he would become end of life before he died so we could make arrangements and talk then.
