Hospice support, or lack of it

Hi, I wondered what other members' experiences are of hospice care?  My mother is under pallatative care, but it seems like I have to move mountains to get visits or any response, I'm really worried about where this is going, I thougtht they were supposed to be supportive.  My mom is in pain which is uncontrolled and the best they can do is promise a visit, which in the past has not happened...so frustrated and frightened.

  • Hello Fezzahorton

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis and that at the moment she is experiencing pain which is poorly managed. Please do get in touch with her GP who should be able to help with getting a better handle on things for your Mum.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nurses for some advice you're most welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope that things improve soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks for your response Jenn.  There seems to be a disconnect between the GP, district nurses and the hospice, thankfully the hospice nurse has now visited but it seems to take an awful lot of energy to get the wheels turning!
