Prostate cance

Hi guys. Iv never done anything like this before but wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or been where myself and my family are. My dads was diagnosed with prostate cancer 7 years ago and it's also spread to his bones. This last year he has been in and out of hospital quite a few times. His psa levels are goi g up really quick, July they where 900 and now they are 1700! They can't do anything for him and he's terminal so they are foucing in keeping him pain free. He doesn't do anything these days except sit in his chair. He's very low and this last couple of weeks he has been extremely emotional. He hasn't been given a time frame of how long he has left or anything so was wondering if anyone else or if anyone knows anyone similar to dad who has the same diagnosis l, what was there outcome? I know this will only go one way but i just wish we knew how long we had him for. Such a cruel cruel disease

  • Hi Kms123,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your dad - this sounds difficult and I can understand the uncertainty must be really tough.

It's hard to advise on what to potentially expect but his doctor/specialist should be able to offer some sort of guidance on this - they would be the best person to speak to in terms of finding out any info specific to him.

Meanwhile, hopefully you'll receive further replies here soon from others with similar experience to share. You can also browse or search (using the button in the blue bar above) the forum for any other potentially relevant discussions.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
