Glioblastoma

My dad aged 74 was diagnosed in March with a Glioblastoma and told it was inoperable. He returned home and we assumed he might get 3 months. We are almost at 3 months and while he's not great he's not really bad. His biggest issue is stomach pains and being bloated. It was suggested by the community nurse he go on oral morphine to help him sleep, but the palliative nurse didn't agree. He's in so much pain! Is there a reason she didn't agree? He keeps saying he feels worse but I think we have a while yet! How do you know?  He's still eating and drinking ‍♀️

  • Hello HJ2021

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's diagnosis. It's obviously a very difficult time for you all.

I'm unsure why there has been a conflict about managing your Dad's pain relief. Clearly, if he's in pain then this needs addressing. If you've not already spoken to the GP then do get in touch with them and explain the situation. They should be able to get things in motion to try and improve things and make your Dad as comfortable as possible.

Alternatively, if you'd like to speak to one of our team of nurses for some advice then you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope that things improve soon.

    Best wishes,
