Tumour grown back in weeks

My Dads stage 4, 6 cm esophageal tumour which has spread to his lungs shocked everyone by shrinking to just bits after 6 rounds of chemo. It has unfortunately grown back in a matter of weeks, not as big yet but it's fast, he cant have radiotherapy as he had cancer of the mouth 8 years ago & used it up then!

He doesn't want to know timescales but I'm thinking months? Anyone had it go but grow back in weeks? I know everyone is different but was it a fast decline? He is 66 & done so well after last time, 2 major ops * the radiotherapy, got his 5 year clear but this time it's terminal & my heart is broken.

  • Hi Kazzakp,

I'm so sorry to hear of what your Dad is going through - it sounds like he's been through an awful lot and I'm sure this must be incredibly tough for all of you.

I can see you've received some replies to your other post which is great. I hope the forum can offer some small support to you.

Of course any questions about your dad's situation and what to potentially expect, do discuss these with his doctor/specialist when you can, so you can get the information you need.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
