My brother

My brother is 49

he was diagnosed 23 Dec 2020 with stage 4 lung cancer

he was given 6 months and told there was treatment available for him. He has moved in with me and my husband and my mum has moved in too to care for him. He has made us promise he can stay at home no hospice or hospital which is fine by us

were now into 5 th month and it's killing me trying to work out how long he has to live and what's happening to him !
We love him so much .. and I don't want him to die .. he says he's not scared but just doesn't want to !

he has stopped eating now doesn't even have his fortisip any more . He's just started over last 3 days having diarrhoea 4/5 times a day on commode...

does this mean his body is shutting down ?? He's stopped wearing so much too . But he's still sat up in his chair and talking and for hours.

it's just so painful and we don't know when it will happen and what to expect . Nurses come once a week but don't really say anything.. does anyone know any more to help us

Thankyou xx

  • Hello 831kid

I'm sorry to hear about your brother's diagnosis. It's obviously an incredibly difficult time for you all and it's understandable that you want to be as prepared as you can for things.

We do have some information here on our website which may answer some of your questions but the best people to talk to would be the nurses that visit your brother. If you're not able to talk to them then you're most welcome to give our team of nurses a call and I'm sure that they will be able to give you some information and support. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
