Help?

I've previously posted on here explaining my dad has had 4 cancers( bowel, lung, liver and lastly pancreatic) he has had a whipple op just over 18months ago and recovered well after chemo, a small glitch last year when a small tumour was found by ribs but he was given a short blast of radiotherapy and all was good apart from pain, fast forward and it'll be 2weeks he had results of PET scan, it's back and in stomach and lungs, without chemo we are talking weeks, with it a year tops. He had his first dose mid week and he's now having pain in his chest area( not heart attack pain etc just pain) it's a different chemo from the last time( two drips) I don't know what to do to help, is this chemo normally like this? He won't allow me to call the nurse as he's scared he will go into hospital, anyone been through similar? It's awful watching your loved one who is so strong break down and cry, is the chemo worth this? I don't want him to die but I don't want him in pain. Thank you all for your time

  • Hi Marsh65,

I'm very sorry to hear of what your dad is going through. I can only imagine how difficult this must be and I hope you're getting on as OK as possible. We're always here for support on the forum whenever you need it.

Any concerns or questions regarding the treatment are really best discussed with your dad's doctor/specialist. I appreciate his concerns, but it's only them who can advise specifically to him.

If you feel you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Otherwise if anyone here has similar experience then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
