Metastasis prostate cancer and dexamethazone steroid

This is my first post on here. I would be  grateful for any feedback regarding the steroid dexamethazone. My 84 Yr old father has been discharged from hospital recently, his oncologist told me he may have 2 months left, he has been taking this steroid for 16 days now, 2mg dose in the morning, the change is amazing his appetite is back and his energy is heightened, despite this he is now coughing after eating and talking with the food gurgling  on his vocal chords. He has a chest xray next week, I expect its spread to his lungs, its already in his bones bladder and lymph  nodes.  Dad deteriorated rapidly from walking with frame pre hospital, now bed  bound with full body hoisting since coming home, we have carers 4 times a day double assist,  I am here 24/7 now and just wondering who has experienced similar with a loved one and the probability 9f what lies ahead for us, many thanks for any feedback
