Palliative Chemo

Hi, I've just been told my Cancer had returned. I've been offered Palliative Chemo.
But that was it, no offers of help support or information. My next appointment which is a phone call isn't till the 12th April?????
Ive got no idea where to go from here?

  • Yep its not their life or life or their relatives is it?they have no idea how to feel or what to do.i hope I will go to the other hospital soon I can't stand it anymore.I want to slap the doctor. But I am saying yes or no and keep the words for myself:)

  • Hi,

Sorry to read that you are being messed around so badly. It would be worth ringing your consultant or her/his medical secretary to ask if they are aware that you’re being left waiting for six weeks with no treatment. Mix ups happen and when I was in a similar position someone had forgotten to mark my next appointment as urgent.

If they are aware and say they can do nothing about it tell them that you’ll be making a formal complaint to both the Trust’s Chief Executive and to the Chief Executive of the CCG and your local authority. This may seem like over-kill but the PALS team work for someone who works for a Director who works for the Chief Executive. The process is always very slow and you don’t have the luxury of time. Far better abd quicker to go to the top - it also endures the Chief Exec can’t deny knowledge of the problem if you decide to sue them at later stage.

I hope you get this resolved soon.

    Good luck with your chemo

    Dave

  • Thank you Davek!
You may be right! Administration errors to occur!
Have decided to email as I find it easier to write how I feel rather than getting flustered and tearful over the phone!
