Good and bad news

Well I went to my dads appointment with him yesterday about his liver cancer...its at an advanced stage so without chemotherapy he only has about 6 months to live. They are after offering him chemotherapy (which if all goes well for him they are after giving him 2 years)and even though he has other underlying health issues he has decided to go for it because as he said hes nothing to lose. Its all still such a shock because hes not sick or in any pain and he looks so well and is so active. Has anyone any experience of tjis kind of situation? Were so thankful that chemotherapy has been offered because we we told before the appointment that chemotherapy was probably not going to be an option

  • Hello Amrc

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's recent diagnosis. Obviously, it's a difficult time for you all but it's positive that the Consultant was able to offer him some treatment options. Despite your Dad's underlying health conditions, being well and active with a positive mindset will no doubt stand him in good stead for his chemo.

Hopefully, if we've any members who have been in a similar situation they will post to share their advice and support but in the meantime if you're like to talk to one of our nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do keep in touch and let us know how your Dad gets on.

    Best wishes,
