So quick

It's 2 weeks since my Dad's diagnosis and he passed away a few hours ago. I had 3 days with him. On Wednesday he was talking almost normally but could barely sit up. By Thursday he was in a great deal of pain. By Friday he couldn't bear to move. We got the extra pain relief he needed early afternoon and he fell asleep and didn't wake up. He died with my Mum, me and my brother holding him. It was so fast. The medical team moved quickly to keep up and made his final hours peaceful. I can't believe that a super fit man could have gone so quickly but in the end it was what he and we wanted.

I am in shock and it hasn't registered that he's gone. I don't think it will for a long time. He was my hero, so kind and caring  and fun loving. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Try and keep your dad before cancer touched him ... that's who he was ... cancer wants to take good memories away ... don't let it ...  I've lost 7 in the last 14 months so I share that pain of loss ... sending you a vertual hug.... Chrissie x

  • Thank you. I spent all night looking at photos of Dad as I am determined to remember him at his best. I hope you get through your pain too x
