Hi, so sorry to hear these experiences.

I am in a rather difficult position myself and can't seem to have any medical professional confirm that she is approaching the end. Is this normal? They all just keep saying she's extremely sick and based on the spread of her melanoma she could go "soon".

Every day I see a new form of decline. Last night and today she keeps waking from sleep very distressed and gets up to sit on the edge of the bed. She's very confused and mumbles some words and almost falls back asleep even when she's sitting up. 
 

I have no clue how long we have left but she's sleeping most of the time, in her sleep she is making groaning noises and her eyes open every now and again. Today has been the first day she's refused all offers of food. Water intake is also very limited.

I still don't have palliative nurses as the district team have transferred her for an assessment but on Wednesday next week! But I feel looking at her that she won't make it to Wednesday. 
 

I just want someone to tell us if she's in her final days/week.

It's hard to say, and everyone is different, but to share the experience of my mum, she also stopped eating a few days before she died. And water intake completely stopped two days before she died. The nurses were lovely and were able to guide us through the process. They said that this was very normal when close to death, and that when mum stopped drinking, we'd only have a couple of days, as the human body can't go without water for too long.

I'd strongly recommend you speak to a nurse soon, and get someone out to see your mum (sorry - I think it's your mum, you didn't say?). You could be very close now.
