End of life being single

Hi guys.

I have always worked (for the nhs) I was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer 4 weeks ago. I am off work and really struggling to fill my time in Cambridgeshire especially since COVID 19 nowhere seems to be running. I am not used to being so inactive and sitting with 'end if life thoughts' are making me anxious. My breathing is impaired and wearing a mask makes me worse so shopping is even difficult..

  • Hi Kaz

I am so sorry to read of your diagnosis. Despite this and despite being single, you are not alone, althought it may certainly feel that way right now.

Do you not have siblings or parents around you at this time, or local friends or even work colleagues to be there for you?  I really feel your pain right now.  I am sure if you joined, or you may have already, the Macmillan group online, as I have, there will be people who can professionally direct you to support groups or even meeting groups, with social distancing that could help with the isolation or lonliness you are experiencing.  Are you on any social media sites where you can talk to people, just as you or you with cancer?  I am sure either way will help you feel less anxious and take your mind off 'end of life thoughts'.

As a Christian, i know i am able to cope as i do, due to having my friend and Saviour daily in my life to keep me focused, having a sense of worth and feeling loved and less lonely. Sometimes having lots of people around as opposed to few, doens't always make it any better.
Do get in touch and I am here to chat with you whenever you need to. Bee x
