My husband had the same diagnosis and had the stent fitted. He is still here 18 months later and can swallow food without pain. The side effects are if he swallows too much in one go then he canfind this hard and meaty foods can get stuck, but only for a little while, during this time he swallows continuously and drinks to relieve the blockage.i hope this helps,take care,thankyou

Thank you very much for responding I hope you don't mind me asking but has he been having palliative Chemotherapy? It's just my mum doesn't know whether to have it or not?
