Terminal Neuroendocrine Cancer

We have  been told that Mums cancer is extensive and they hope to do 6 months of chemo in order to give her a year (including treatment)

She has become very unwell this week but they want to proceed with the chemo as an inpatient. Has anyone begun chemo whilst very sick already?
She is reluctant and wants to wait.

She isn't aware of timelines and neither is my Dad.
I'm not sure what to do

  • Hi Joyelle,

I'm very sorry to read about your Mum and also this difficult situation. I'm assuming that your parents aren't aware of timelines because they have chosen not to know. In this case, it sounds like the only thing to really work with is the medical team's or specialist's advice about the best way to proceed. Perhaps you can also discuss things with your Mum in general terms if you haven't already - for example explaining that the treatment may help things beyond the short-term.

I can see that this must be very tough. Do speak to the specialist about your concerns and hopefully they can also explain their thoughts to you.

If anyone here has further advice to offer then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
