My cancer has spread

I was due an operation to remove Sarcoma on 23rd June, went for pre op few days before miles away, to be told I had been removed from system. The nurses were trying to find out information for me. Turned out operation cancelled team just didn't inform me

Next was told plan now CT scan, radiotherapy, then operation. Had scan plus video consultation with a Dr to explain plan and book me in for radiotherapy

Night before appointment for radiotherapy had text to say appointment cancelled- video consultation instead. Then the bombshell was told during Video consultation that Sarcoma had lead to spread to lungs, so within the 3 months it took to get to this point I had gone from healthy lungs to cancer spread. I can't have treatment except to shrink Sarcoma for comfort via radiotherapy so basically it's just a waiting game and hoping restrictions  are lifted so children can travel  see me. And we can have a holiday together

The virus has caused so much extra damage and I would urge anyone to seek help even  if slightly concerned, I did - but then a week later was lockdown and Nhs restrictions got in the way

  • Very sad news, Mermaid132. You have had an awful three months, and now this. I wish you and your family every strength, and all the luck in the world. xx Harry

  • Hi mermaid 132. My heart goes out to yeh sweet. This covid is just unbearable for patients who need treatment.. i do hope you get the treatment you need. I will be thinking and wish8ng  you all the best..god bless.xxx

  • Thankyou all for messages, the children have booked a long weekend away on 10th. We will all be there including grandchildren

They are just incredibly angry that CT scan wasn't done a lot sooner as spread to lungs a high risk from Sarcoma. That appointments were cancelled and the operation. That communication was slow.  It's hard for me to see them so devastated.

They want me to get a 2nd opinion to see if targeted therapy in lungs would work but at present am too in shock to consider

    xx

  • Dear Mermaid123

I fully understand how you feel I was diagnosed  with  oesophageal cancer that is uncurrable  a few months ago after getting back from the Caribbean thinking life is great.

I decided to take holidays with my wife and three children however before we could we got locked down but if you look there are plenty places to go in the UK as soon as I can I'm booking a week on a boat on the Norfolk Broards a few days in the highlands and hopefully a trip to France where I can drive over there, All options where I can cater for ourselves if need be.Please spend the time planning where you will go , look hard your find things to do stay positive as long as we are  breathing life goes on, I'm determined to prove my team wrong.

Stay strong you never know what will come up with treatments. Best wishes x

  • Update

Another bombshell today, Oncologist rang to say they've found a suspicious lump in breast, missed it apparently when originally looking at CT scan, only picked up on lungs. Radiologist noticed today during their weekly meeting

Booking me in for ultrasound and biopsy within next 2 weeks

My radiotherapy is planned and ready to go on 20th for original Sarcoma in leg.

Fortunately 2 of my children arrive tomorrow and one staying all week then next weekend we are all away, caravans in Weymouth
