Help and advise meeded

My dearest Aunt has lung cancer, she has NOT undergone any type of chemo or radiation therapy, typical to her stubborn charector, she wants to pass away at home, not in a hospice.I would like help to understand what kind of care she will receive at home, she has severe loss of appetite, and barely takes a sip of water a day, she's very weak.but she does have lucid moments, then she will ask for her dead mother, she seems confused.is this normal, and can anyone tell me if she may be close to the end??

She's skin and bones, weak and on alot of morphine,is some of this a side affect of the drug or is she close to death.

  • Hi Lovescar,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm very sorry to read about your Aunt. I hope you're getting on OK although I can imagine this must be very difficult.

Unfortunately it is difficult to answer these questions. The care she'll receive at home will depend on her situation and the support offered. Similarly, no-one here can really advise on timescales - it's only your Aunt's doctor or specialist who can do this. Hopefully you or someone close to her can discuss these questions with them and find out more about what to expect so that you can prepare as best as possible.

    Wishing you all the best,
