Final Days???

My mum has been battling cancer for 22 years, she's got it behind the face, had it in her throat, breast & finally her lungs. The cancer started to spread to her brain last October & she has been completely bed bound since then, these last 2 weeks she has completely stopped eating & has had a syringe driver put in on Sunday, but the reason I'm posting is because even though she has the driver she still seems in pain, it's like she's in and out of conciseness & when she wakes up she cry's our in agony, we phone the district nurses but by the time they come out she has exhausted herself, then the nurses won't admister anything as she is asleep?? We know my mum is in her final days but my concern is she's suffering has any one had any experiences like this?

Many thanks x

  • Hi there ...

So so sorry your going through this heartbraking time at the moment....

It's just a thought... could you take a little video on your phone, when your mum is in pain .. so you can show them pruff ... my sister's last few days in hospital, her daughter stayed with her, day and night .. and think the nurses grew quite warry of her, as she was firm, ( not  agumentive) and when she woke in pain, would call them, and firmly say, she needed more as she was in pain ..

Before she got stern, they would leave her .. saying they'd help her later ... till her daughter said .. no more .. that's my mum in pain, so help her now ... her daughter is a nurse herself on oncology,  so she knew, they can keep her out of pain ... yes it was a lot of pain relief... but we knew she didn't have long ... so it was more important to help her stay calm .. it was heartbraking when she'd wake and scream out ...

So personally, I would catch it on my phone so they could see, you know what your talking about .. good luck ... Chrissie... x
