Peritoneal Metastases and Liver Spread

In August 2018  I had a high anterior resection, small bowel resection and sigmoid colectomy followed by 5 months chemo.  I had a normal PET scan last August 2019 but in January a CT scan showed peritoneal metastases and liver spread, that was beyond the organ.   No more treatment was available to me.   On a day to day basis I am managing pretty much as normal, but the weight  gain is increasing all the time.    I have always been 7 stone 12 lbs then after chemo it went to 9 stone and still increasing.  It is not ascites - has anyone else experienced this ?   I would be grateful for any help you can give me.  Many thanks

  • Hello Elizabeth777

I'm glad to hear that day to day you're doing well. It's understandable that you may be feeling concerned about the weight gain you've experienced and I wonder if it may be linked to any medications that you've previously had or are currenty taking.
I would speak to your nurse specialist about your concerns or alternative you could call to speak to one of our nurses for some advice. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Jenn - I will be seeing my Nurse on Thursday - I was just hoping to hear if anyone else had experienced weight gain which I 'understand' is unusual.   I am only on Thyroxine which I have been on for 40 years !  Elizabeth
