Bowel cancer

My mum has been diagnosed with advanced Bowel cancer T4N1, she's had it for 18 months before diagnosis. She is in her 70's, dibetic and has lost weight and very weak. She has said she doesn't want chemotherapy as can't go through the pain of chemo if there's no cure and it will just prelong it. When I spoke to nurse yesterday she kept saying can't say how long she has left the consultant has to tell me. Well I kept saying well hopefully a year or so and she eventually said I don't know but can be 6 months or sooner without treatment. Am seeing the consultant tomorrow for answers. But can anyone shed some light pls from experience how long would you say she has?

  • Hi ray2912,

I'm very sorry to read about your mum. I hope you're getting on OK although I can only imagine how difficult this must be.

Unfortunately no-one here will be able to help with your question, but I see that it was yesterday you saw the consultant, so I hope you were able to find out more then.

Do continue to use this forum as much as is helpful for support through this tough time.

    Wishing you all the best,
