Ovarian cancer return

I was diagnosed with lllb ovarian cancer two years ago.  I had an operation, a stoma, and chemo.  My June 2019 CT scan was fine.  However, my scan in January showed the cancer was back, inoperable and will be treated, as far as possible, with chemo.  But this is it.  I have Ascites which has made me look 6 months pregnant.  That has been drained twice, and will no doubt have to be done again although the chemo should reduce it.  I am tired all the time and have very little energy which is very irritating!  My husband has taken over practically everything but is frightened of my dying and being on his own after 60 years together.

Has anyone else been through this experience?

  • Hello Janpananny

I'm sorry to hear that it's such a difficult time for you and your husband at the moment. It's understandable that you're both feeling the way that you are.

I hope that some of our members here who are able to recognise themselves in your situation may stop by to say Hello and share some words of support for you both.

We have some information here on our website which your husband may find helpful and if he, or indeed you, would like to talk things through with one o four nurses then please do give them a call. They are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Keep in touch Janpananny and let us know how you're  both doing.
    Best wishes,

  • Unfortunately tiredness is a side effect of chemo.

I don't want to be the bringer of doom and gloom but at some point you may need to decide whether to continue with the chemo if it makes you feel so bad, so quality vs quantity of life.

With my sister each session took longer to bounce back from, her situation was different to yours.
