Is this active stage of dying

Hi ...I'm new to this forum, but currently with my dad, so alone trying to care for him.

Brief summary....diagnosed terminal bowel cancer last November...which spread to lung and lymph nodes. Was told August he has several months. Was told 2 weeks ago he wouldn't last weekend, but he has.

The family are currently taking turns staying with him 24/7 ....dad doesn't eat, and drifts if to sleep throughout the day.....he is bed bound...cant walk.

Dad has just asked me to ask my mum for something he cant find....my mum has been dead for 10 years

Dad is not any any morphine, or other medication....just anti sickness through driver....which he has had for many weeks

Edit# so this morning dad urine is very dark brown....like mud

Could this be a sign hes entered the active dying stage ......

Thank you

  • hello

i can only go off what my dad was like, a couple of days before he passed he was chatting to people who had passed, he was sleepy and tired but strangly he kept asking for pints of milk and drinking that, his toes looked white and his nails blue, his legs were mottled and is urine looked so dark !! ,my dad got restless and kept trying to get up but couldnt but that didnt stop him trying..

just stay with him and talk to him as much as you can, or play his favourite music, keep him confortable and warm
