Cessation of treatment

My husband has stage IV lung cancer. He has had radiotherapy and chemotherapy. He is unable to tolerate immunotheraphy but doctores are unwilling to give us even a rough idea of how long he has left.

His cancer metasised from one to five tumours in 8 weeks. Are we looking a months or weeks?

  • I'm really sorry that the doctors are unwilling to give you a time frame doggymad. I can't begin to imagine how frustrating this must be for you both but unfortunately no-one here can tell you this either I'm afraid.

I'm sure some of our members will be along soon to offer their support and advice but in the meantime you're more than welcome to discuss this with our cancer nurses. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Best wishes to you both at this difficult time.

  • Hi Freda,

I am so sorry to hear your news.  When My husband was advised that his cancer had spread he asked and was advised 4-6 months.  That was a year ago today and 'that' news has been hanging over us for all that time,  he has said that next time we see the consultant he isnt going to ask.   So although we all deal with things differently,  sometimes it is best to live in ignorance.

Having said that, I really hope that you have lots more time together.

    Take care
