Lung cancer

My mum has been diagnosed with cancer in her lungs and it has now spread to. Her liver. Apparentky its untreatable and she is now terminally ill. They said she will. See christmas but I'm not sure. She was dreadfully short of breathe and had to go in for draining of fluid but now they've told her they can't do it as blood has gone square.

I don't really understand this. What does this mean? I'm also. Wondering how long does this type of cancer be in the body, now that it's at the palliative point. Another thing I don't understand is why they are talking to. Her about chemo and radiotherapy.

I'm hoping to take time off work. At Christmas for indefinite period. I just hope I'm not too late.

It's an awful. Disease

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. It's obviously a difficult time for you all at the moment.

I'm unsure what's meant by "blood has gone square" - maybe you or Mum can ask the hospital for explain more clearly why they're not able to drain the fluid from her chest any more.

Palliative treatment is designed to relieve symptoms, and improve quality of life and can sometimes include chemo and/or radiotherapy. We've some information on palliative treatment on our website here which may be of help.

If you'd like to talk to one of our team of nurses about your questions then you can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    Best wishes,
