Liver cancer

Hi all,  my mum was diagnosed with liver cancer, cirrhosis and Hepatitis C last year .  She received TACE. Treatment at the end of last year which killed off part of the Tumour  but it also spread to some places in the liver  and it was agreed that no further treatment would be given.

She has been pretty good but was admitted to hospital last week with severe dehydration, nausea, bleeding from gastric varices and has been passing and vomiting blood:  we were told she had days left and that she was now refusing to take tablets.  2 days later she started improving and today she is eating and drinking and looking a lot brighter. Is this normal.  I am under no illusions of her running a arstion but just to get her back to how she was 3 weeks ago would be great.  Has anyone else had the same experience?

  • Hello

Yes! My mum fought back twice this year.

Easter weekend my mums bowel perforated (she has bowel cancer which spread to liver &lung). We were given 48 hours as they said sepsis would kick in. They treated her anyway and a week later she came home!

Two weeks later however she was re-admitted this time her bowel was blocked! Again we were given 48 hours. The recovery wasnt as quick this time and she had all the signs of end of life. Long story short, after 4 weeks her bowels opened, she started eating again and after 6 weeks in hospital she came home.

So yes - your mum may still have time. Sounds like she isnt ready yet either!

    Hang in there xx
