Hi there - it's very sad that you have found yourself in this situation & you clearly want the best for your dad. As someone who values their independence & likes my own company I can understand your dad & it's likely too that he doesn't want to burden you. I would say that you aren't wrong to leave him alone at night if he doesn't want you there so do try not to worry too much about that. Besides, you need rest too & if you were with him all night you wouldn't sleep properly & that wouldn't be good for you or for him.

I do think you will know when the time comes when you need to spend more time with him. You don't say whether he has any nursing care? I assume he does & the nurses will know when your dad needs more care. It's important you ask them these questions & to keep you updated on a very regular basis.

It sounds to me that you are doing your very best & at the end of the day that's all anyone can do. He's lucky to have you & I hope you take care of yourself aswell as your dad. All the very best to you. Keep posting if it helps. x
