Pancreatic cancer inoperable

Really struggling tonight had the most devasting news that my mums cancer has come back this time inoperable they say palliative chemo is the only option as it has spread to major blood vessel anyone else experienced this or have any idea how we get through this??

  • Hello LC241830,

I am so sorry to hear the devastating news that your mum's cancer has come back and is inoperable. I hope you will hear from other members of our community who have been through this before and that they will be along shortly to share some coping mechanisms with you.

Sometimes it also helps to talk to someone else who is in the same situation as you at the moment and feeling also crushed and confused by it all. Just this morning, [@sophierce]‍ posted this thread about her mum who is also terminally ill with pancreatic cancer so I think it would be comforting for you to talk to one another at the moment.

I hope you will find the support you need in this forum and that you will hear from others who know only too well how you are feeling at the moment looking after a loved one with cancer.

    Best wishes,

  • I'm so sorry to hear this.

I seem to be going through the same as you.

My mum got diagnosed 3 weeks ago with inoperable pancreatic cancer. Although it had been going on alot longer than this before hand. It was only diagnosed when she went in hospital with jaundice as the mass was blocking the duct between her pancreas and liver.

Shes had a stent fitted. Which as managed the jaundice.

She starts chemo this week. Not looking forward to this. As shes not in so much pain now we have managed to get her the right pain relief. Feel scared as to how much it's going to drag her down.

Feel so scared and cant help but fear the worst is too close.

    Be grateful to talk.

Hope your okay as can be.

    Thinking of your mum
