Ascites.

Hello

Dad (89) has colon cancer metastasis to both lungs.

He has now developed ascites in his abdomen.

Just wondering if this means things are progressing for the worst?

He is still very much my dad and managing to enjoy small meals, sometimes it feels very unreal. They didn’t do lots of test to very very accurately stage and name the cancers as dad is too frail for broncoscopy

feel I need to know how long and I know it’s a daft question.

  • Hi suercc,

I'm sorry to read this about your Dad and about your worries. Not a daft question at all - perfectly understandable, and it's natural to want answers.

Unfortunately I'm unable to advise on your question. I would suggest noting down any questions or concerns you have and discussing them with your Dad's doctor if you can. It's important to be as informed as you can be.

If you'd like to discuss anything with our nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5) and they're always happy to help.

    Wishing you all the best.

    Ben
