Stuck in limbo!

I care for both my parents that were diagnosed with cancer. My Dad passed away in December and I’m still trying to cope with the grief. My Mum was diagnosed before my Dad in 2015 with stage 4 cancer of the ovaries, stomach and lungs. She was doing okay until recently. Now she’s getting a build up of fluid in her stomach which has to be drained quite often and the doctors are talking about palliative care.

I am really struggling but know I need to stay strong for my Mum. I’ve called a few places to try and get some support but have been told they only really help when someone has passed away and although my Dad has I’m also dealing with and focusing with what’s happening with my Mum so they don’t think their courses would be beneficial right now.

I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could get any help to both deal with the loss of my Dad but also help me come to terms with what’s now happening to my Mum?

  • Hi there ...

So sorry your going through this heartbraking time... I can't imagine having both parents go through this at the same time ... you truly are an amazing daughter ..

From what I've learned a good one to call is Marie Currie, if you go on their home page they have some good info, there ... and they help terminal patients and their families ... give them a ring a see if they can help you ... I so hope you get some help .. it's so easy to fall through the cracks ... there's McMillan too ..

Good luck ... fingers crossed ... Chrissie x
