Lung cancer panic

My mum had had 2 operations within 14 months for lung cancer. It has spread to the lymph nodes but she isn't suitable for chemo or radiotherapy.  I'm beside myself as no one seems to know how long my mum will survive for. Can anyone shed any light on this horrible situation.

  • Hi Bethy. My initial response didn't get posted (strangely). I'll try to rememeber what I wrote but it was along the lines of telling you that while this might not be the answer or advice you want, the harsh reality is that there is no cure for this disease. I lost my dad to lung cancer only 17 weeks after diagnosis. Unfortunately, no one knows how much longer your mom has but rather than worrying about it, cherish every moment with her no matter how difficult. Take numerous pictures and videos. Tell her how much you love her and how she was the best nom ever (whether true or not). Keep her comfortable, and play her favorite movies and music. Enroll her into hospice if she's not already as they can provide palliative care. God bless you and your family. Please feel free to ask any other questions.
