Cancer timescales

My mother is in hospital as we speak. I live 6 hours away and relying on info from family. Basically bone cancer and liver. They were going to pin a fracture but surgeon refused, Now we dont know what is going on. I thought she would last till next year but no time scales have been given, I understand how difficut this is but surely they can give us an idea as to how sever it is. Wether she has weeks or days. Dont know what to do regarding visits. Palliative care is being mentioned but I dont know if they are talking days or weeks?

I'm sorry for what you are going through, being so far away must be hard for you and your family.

Time scales are hard with an illness like this. Without sounding too harsh, if palliative care is being mentioned now I would say the timescale is days not weeks.

I only say this as this is what I asked my mums Dr when she was ill and that's the reply they gave me. I found it easier knowing because I knew I had to be ready to say goodbye to her for her sake not mine.

It sounds scary but palliative care is a good thing because it means she will be in no pain and will be peaceful.

I hope this brings you some answers

    Take care x
