My 64 year old dad was rushed to hospital on 21 September 2018 with a suspected stroke. Turned out to be grade 4 glioblastoma on the left side of his brain. He had an operation on 18 October 2018 where they removed the tumour. Due to the low immune system and high steroids he was on he contracted shingles on the right side of his face leading to complete lost sight in his right eye. Prior to the operation he lost feeling on his right side and suffered with confusion, memory loss and unable to communicate properly. After the operation some of this eased but then came the terrible shooting pain in his head that put him back in hospital. This made the symptoms he had worse and had to increase all his medications. Because of how he is we have been told by his oncologist that treatment isn’t an option. It has all happened so quick we have no idea what is going on. Mum is struggling to get her head round all this and no matter where I look I can’t find anything that is telling me what I should expect now!! Everything I read presumes treatment has been given. We have been told a couple of months is about as much as he has. A month has already gone since the operation and we haven’t even seen a palliative care team yet. I feel angry, useless and at a loss about what to do. I am hoping somone can tell me what comes now :-(
