Is this the end ? Osophagus cancer

Osophagus cancer, spread to lymph nodes. Feeding through a peg, cannot swallow anything. Lost voice, and now really struggling to breathe as the Tumor is growing against windpipe. Making an awful noise and physically struggling to fill lungs with a breathe. Doctors have said a  Tracheostomy is the next option to prevent chocking to death. Very uncomfortable. Lots of mucus from the Tumor and spitting lots of blood. Meant to have 5 ensure shakes a day through peg, currently on 2 a day (on a good day) morphine patches, lots of drugs, asthma sprays and loosing weight rapid. Very uncomfortable, 0 sleep. Can’t lay flat in bed any longer, sit up in chair all night and day having 10 minute naps here and there.

Is this the end ??

  • Hi 123abc,

Is this the end? I don't have the answer to that I'm afraid however, you're still here now so let's focus on that.

You're going through so much by the sound of things. Who do you have in your world? Hopefully you've got at least one person to support You.

Yes, cancer is ***.....but don't let this little f@#ker take over your mind too. Physically it may be a struggle but you CAN beat it mentally and make sure you're making the most out of every second you're still here.

I'm always up for a chat and a joke. Feel free to message anytime! Xx

  • Have they given you the option of being able to do chemo and then operate to remove the tumour? It sounds like you are suffering a lot of the symptoms from the tumour but it doesn’t sound like it’s at a very advanced stage as you say it has just spread to lymph nodes. They would normally remove various lymph nodes as routine when operating for osephagus cancer. I know they can only operate on adenocarcinoma type and not the other type which I think is squamous cell.
