My mum

In may 2016 mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.she had surgery, chemo etc.in 2017 she had a raised blood count, cancer was back in liver, kidney.she has had chemo now since last year.she keeps having ascites, has it drained etc.she's on weekly chemo now, sadly making her too unwell.I poored my heart to her yesterday&she said she's stopping chemo.myself, sister told her we agree.my dads mental health is low he's bi polar.I work in mental health.I'm so drained&scared of the next few months.she's stage 4 now.any one know roughly how long she may have left?I'm guessing a few months,Denise.

  • Hi Denise I am in the same boat and mum is off to have fluid drained tomorrow - I keep thinking how long but I guess we just need to think they are here now.  However long we have with them and every single moment we can speak to them hold their hand is all that is important- thinking when - how long - how much pain - how ill can they get is not good for us .  Keep it one day at a time pour your heart out to her as long as you can - tell her everything you need her to know .   Now is important not when xxx

  • Thank you for your kind words, mum had chemo today&has 2 more then meets with oncologist 3 DEC to tell her what she's decided. With me I would rather know how long mum has.I can deal with it better,my daughters due her 2nd child end of Jan,and she's worrying about my mum. I work in mental health&not being able to give dates etc when I may need time off is hard.I'm staying strong for my dad who has mental health&is not aware of mums decision yet.how long has your mum had cancer?my sister lives in wales and I'm in oxford,so I'm the closer daughter etc.which puts stress on me more so.xx
