Hello all,
I’m new to this forum so forgive me if my dilemma has been brought up before. My brother was diagnosed a year and a half ago, with small cell lung cancer. It’s now at an advanced stage, receiving palliative care. Focus is on pain management and ‘quality of life’. During the week, my brother experienced a psychotic episode. The doctors initially thought that a build up of morphine in his system was to blame but are now looking at steroids being the problem. Current symptoms include insomnia, confusion, restlessness, agitation and memory loss. Memory loss has been progressive but other symptoms only very recent. While my brother has not had a psychotic episode since he is heavily sedated. I cannot put into words how difficult things are for my brother. While the medical staff are doing everything they can, my instinct tells me they’re not exactly sure what exactly is going on. It’s a complicated disease, I know. I’m hoping someone out there can shed some light. Thankyou in advance.
