My mother in law has just been taken into a hospice, she was given 2-3 months with small cell lung cancer on 16th Jan. Whilst she had carers and district nurses at home, my husband is her only support. We work full time and have 2 young children and have been trying to manage work, kids activities and looking after mum in law. Mum in lae is a very stubborn woman and can still make her own decisions, this week she agreed to the hospice for 2 weeks, she has been given more medication to help her....things she couldnt have whilst at home...generally on her own. We went to see her today (as we have done every day since diagnosis) and she was totally not with it, couldnt speak, looked like she was sleeping but eyes wide open. My husband obvs wants to take some time of work nearer to the end but obvs cant be off work foe weeks....one doc has told us doesnt look good for gettin her home after 2 weeks and another has said not her time yet. Question is has anyone else been through this experience and is it the medication or end of life?
Thank you x
