Sorry to hear the bad news Zante. Please know there are many people out there with these bad news and we cannot do much more than to hope for science to catch up. Having my own dad just diagnosed with cancer and only a 6 month window to live, I feel hopeful that some research will lead to more alternatives for your dad as there is still a couple of years to go!

Hello zante1.  So sorry about the bad news about your dad.  I doubt whether your friends are being deliberately unkind; they probably just do not know what to say.  If you try to explain to them what this means to you and what you would like from them they will probably step up.  You can also get help from MacMillan Cancer Support (Freefone 0808 808 0000) who are very supportive of families who are having to cope with cancer.  Also, if there is anything you don't quite understand about your dad's illness the nurses on this website are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and will be most happy to  help you on Freefone 0808 808 4040. 

People who have not been affected by cancer either for themselves or for a loved one often don't understand what it means.  But the people on this forum will understand and listen to you.  We are a mixture of people who are being treated for cancer, have survived a battle with cancer or have cared/are caring for family and friends with cancer.   So please continue to post here if you just want to let your feelings out.  Annie
