Mum so poorly

Hello my mum has cancer in different places. We have been told that she can not have anyore treatment. She's very weak. She may possibly only have a few months to live. She keeps getting infections. And is very confused. She used to be such a active lady. Now she faces all this. It all seems so unfair. I'm her only daughter. Myself and my dad are devastated. I'm finding it very hard to cope with my emotions. Can anyone give me advice?

    I noticed you haven't had a reply yet so I just wanted to pop by and welcome you to the forum.

    I can't begin to imagine how tough it must be knowing that your mum may not have much time left but I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. Many members here will understand how difficult it can be to cope emotionally in situations like these and hopefully some of them will post soon to offer their support and advice.

    We also have some information about coping emotionally with cancer on our website if you want to have a look. Although it's written from the point of view of the person diagnosed it can still be quite helpful for family members as well.

    I hope this helps Cheryl and do keep posting as many members find sharing their thoughts and feelings can really help.

    I know exactly how you feel, lost my lovely active glamourous mum in February 18th.She was fit and well in November and we discovered she had stage 4 advanced kidney cancer in December. I feel we were given false hope, told she could get better but she deteriorated rapidly as we discovered secondary bone tumours that broke her pelvis and leg. Mum didn't know she was dying neither did we. She died 10 wks after diagnosis. My dad was married to her for 46 years. I'm so upset. Miss her so much its unbearable the heart ache. I feel for you, try and be strong for her and your dad and tell her how much you love her. Take care and message me if you need to talk x

    Cheryl and Happydays I can relate to both of your posts. We've recently found out that mum has terminal cancer with a matter of weeks left and its left the whole family reeling. Mum first had breast cancer 21 years ago when she was 47 and successfully overcame it, it returned 3 years ago and again she was brave and fought it and overcame it. She's just spent 6 weeks in hospital with a weakness in her legs, scans couldn't find any tumours so as a family we breathed a sigh of relief that the cancer had not returned, however further tests found cancer cells in her spinal fluid. A delay in the chemo meant that her condition deteriorated to the point that the chemo could not go ahead. The change in her in the past 2 weeks is unbelievable, she's now at home but is a shadow of the woman who left there for an hospital appointment 7 weeks ago. My emotions go from being sad, angry, numb and inconsolable. You both say that your mothers were active, and that is what I struggle with, mum was so active, never sat still and did so much fir everyone else. Sorry if I've taken over your thread Cheryl, I just want to let you know that you are not alone xx
