My dad has got terminal pancreatic cancer

My dad was diagnosed in February with incurable pancreatic cancer it has spread to his liver. I live near my mum & dad and my one sibling my brother lives 140 miles away. I have a really tough job 2 kids and a mega busy life and am finding it hard to support my mum. She is struggling to deal with my dads deteriorating psychological state. His symptoms are that he has got a very swollen abdomen which is uncomfortable. He is on Oxycodone slow release tablets 15mg twice a day. He is having palliative chemotherapy. My dad is 73 and my mum is 70. They have run their own business for 40 years and still work now. My husband has recently taken over the business so that is taking the strain off my parents. I am dreading what is to come, the deterioration. It's heartbreaking. What are your experiences of this dreadful disease?

  • Hi... I have also been diagnosed with stage 4 ... what chemo is it she had if you don't mind me asking

  • Hi Glenys genuinely  sorry to here about your diagnosis. I am KT9 but was banned for discussing the benefits of cannabis oil (wasn't selling it) but the admins don't allow

The chemo was gemcitibine and abraxane - it was 3 weeks on 1 week off.

Chemo knocks yours bloods and platelets into next week - so if they turn you away one week because your body hasn't recovered from the last session of chemo don't feel upset xxx

  • Thank you for coming back to me... I'm actually her daughter writing on her behalf.. how often do you take the oil?

She has it ever evening before bed..she's had the treatment 3 weeks on 1 off which at first was effective to the tumor on the pancreas but it's stopped working and the spread to the liver has gotten significantly worse...she's on another form of treatment now consisting of tablets and a more aggressive chemo every 3 weeks but she's just loosing all hope at this point xxx
