Ovarian cancer - The silent killer

Hi my name is Sue and I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer nearly 5 years ago now (can't believe it's been that long! ) graded 3c. I was told summer of last year that it is terminal as now is in the lymph nodes!  Year or two I've been told, I'm only 57!

I have a wonderful family but it would be nice to chat to others who are or who have been through ovarian cancer.

Kind regards Sue

  • Hello Susan1959 and welcome to Cancer Chat!

Thanks for sharing your story and I am sorry to hear the cancer is now in the lymph nodes. I am glad you have a supportive family but as you say, it is nice to be able to talk to others who may not be part of your family or friends circle but who will understand better than anyone what you are going through.

There is one lovely regular member of this forum, [@haze44]‍ who will have a lot to share with you I am sure as she has had to deal with ovarian cancer herself. Feel free also to respond to recent threads from others who were also looking to connect with someone who has had ovarian cancer, as for example this thread by [@Nicky63]‍.

I hope you will get chatting soon with some of our members who are in the same boat and who understand exactly how you are feeling at the moment.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Sue I am really sorry to hear your news, I do understand as I have Ovarian cancer myself and it is very hard to live with. I am grade 4 and was diagnosed Christmas 2013 and have very recently found out it has returned or regrown for the third time. This time was a total shock as I had no symptoms, so it has been very hard to digest. I haven't been told it's terminal, that must be extremely difficult for you! However I do know my prognosis and that I can't beat it, as so widespread and that my treatment is only palliative. My own family have been great but it's living with the knowledge that is so hard and the thought of not seeing your own children grow older and particularly not living to see grandchildren grow up. However, we fight on, as we have to, as new treatments and trials and becoming available all the time and it's important to try and keep positive. Thinking of you, fight on. Very kind regards. Hilary
