Hello, my fiancé was diagnosed with bowel cancer in March and had surgery to remove it which was a success followed by 12 rounds of preventive chemo, at the end of his chemo a few weeks ago we had a private scan (as NHS said they wouldn't scan him for 1 year as it was preventative chemo only) to be told that he has cancer which has metastasised into his hip and caused his hip to have a fracture and a hole so they are now advising they can try and maintain it with radiotherapy starting on 19th December but are unable to fix his hip as they want to wait and see how the radiotherapy reacts to treatment. But also the Dr said at a guess he could have up to a year to live but he doesn't know ? I don't understand how they can guess how long one has left to live ? Has anyone else had a similar situation to this? The Dr said maybe if the treatment goes well they can look at operating on his hip as he's in so much pain with the fracture? Feel like we seen the light at the end of the tunnel and now it's dark again, I'm trying to have a positive outlook but it's so hard when a Dr doesn't give you much hope.
