struggling with everything

HI

am new to this forum.. thought I posted this morning, but must have screwed up.

tried a trial for past 2 months  - -intermittian zytiga, probably the first person who tried it. worked good for first 28 days. , then activity shot up and numbers doubled in 12 days.  SO I pulled out . I had set up the trial with an oncologist and pharmacologist.  Now I am trying to get the zytiga to function again for me.  Funny part is it seems to be performing after a meer 12 day.  that would be good  , and allow another shot at intermittant applcation.

been fighting the cancer since 2007. never had any chemo for it yet. have been using herbs and playing with intermittant applications of meds.

i feel as the end is looming in front of me.

hoping for a some support here. cannot turn to anyone else , except here - so few are able to talk about the end.

  • Hi Sadcat,

Sorry to read that you feel that you're reaching the end. Let's hope that's just the blues rather than reality kicking in.

After a lot of thinking, I'm now of a mind to end my days in a hospice. Hopefully with family near and floating on a cloud of Oromorph or Diamorphine. I'd thought of staying at home but I'm worried that would put too many bad memories into the home that would make life difficult for my wife and family.

One evening after rather too much to drink I started talking with friends about what music I would like played at my funeral and wake. The playlist reach about 8 hours, which we didn't think the local Crem would be able to accommodate! So back to my original 3 or 4 tracks which led to the topic www.cancerresearchuk.org/.../apt-tunes-for-a-funeral

I hope you manage to get your trial off the ground again and regain some of the hope you seem to have lost!

    Best wishes

    Dave

  • Hi again....

    it is august 2017.

Been in second cycle of intermittant zytiga , now for more than 10 months .

I seem to have found a good compliment during the off phase of the cycle.

Have been in this cycle for more than 9 months without needing to take any zytiga.

It is quite amazing. It was unexpected.

Am putting together a case study , to be submitted to the oncology medical assiciation . Hope it will help others.

For the poast couple of months (i test monthly) I have expected the cancer activity level to increase. But, it has simply refused to increase. It is amazing.

About a month ago my alkaline phosphase increased from 75 to 96. So, I researched it.  And found that it might be signaling me that my cancer activity would increase. Scared me for a month. But on the next testing  - - the alkaline phosphase went back to 75 and the PSA remained at 0.14 .

I have no idea whether this will continue further , or whether another cycle will be possible . Have not had any zytiga for 9 + months , therefore saved more than $ 90,000 in costs for the zytiga alone . Recently stopped the prednisone taken with the zytiga, and the lasix i needed to keep my edema in check from the prednisone.  So, side effects are being almost eradicated entirely.

I am feeling really great at this time. And people i see are telling me that my color is much better now. Not very scientific , but it sure makes me feel better to hear that.

If it would halp anyone  - i would be willing to answer questions about this trial to anyone who has prostate cancer .
