Lung cancer seems like the cancer has progressed

My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer this January, it had already started to spread to the bone and was at a late stage, however he had chemo and although it was awful it did shrink the tumour and gave him extra time I think! Just the chemo has taken its toll on him, his last check up was in August and the tumour hadn't grown but he's started to have pain in his hips and funny sensation down his legs and more concerning he feels sick all the time and not eating, the Drs have given him more painkillers and different nausea tablets but nothing working. Does this sound like it's the cancer? I'm wondering how long he's got ?

  • Maria you really won't know for definite until something shows up on a scan, but chemo can cause nerve damage and this can sometimes manifest some time after the the chemo is finished, so don't despair, sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error to get medications right and thats hard to watch and hard for your Dad to go through but stay strong, and take each day at a time. xx

  • I actually didn't think about that, that it could be the chemo still , he's felt dizzy since then too, I don't know I just don't like him suffering. The Macmillan nurse is concerned about him though , she said the fact his bowels aren't working properly isn't a good sign.
