Small cell cancer - Is there hope after chemo? What's next?

I came to this forum in Aug 15 as my dad was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer, he then caught pneumonia before chemo and we were asked to go and say goodbye. Since then his body fought off the pneumonia and he has had 2 cycles of chemo responding well.  The Tumour has halfed in size but some signs show it in the bone.  He had his last scan on Friday and we get the results this week.  I'm dreading it and don't know what to expect for the future?  Has anyone advice for me on what to expect?  Dad is our rock and although fighting this dreadful diesease what are his chances and how long can he go on?

  • Hi there, I'm sorry to hear your dad is unwell but glad he is fighting it. You can find out statistics for his stage and type of cancer online. Maybe somebody can post the link? I would however take it with a massive pinch of salt. I hope the scan results come up with some good news. Take care
