I don't know what to say

Hi everyone I've never done this before and I don't know what to do or say. I'm 22 years old and my father is hanging by a thread, we've managed to agree with the hospital to get him home so he can pass in peace, however I don't know if he'll make it through the night to get back home. Hence why I'm awake at this time. I can't sleep I can't cry I don't feel like it's real, my father is my hero and I need him now more than ever, I doubt anyone had any advise for how to cope afterwards but I just need someone who understands. Thank you very much for listening

  • Hi

Welcome to the forum but sorry for the reason  you find yourself here. This is a good place to just say what you feel and sometimes it is easier to put it down in writing than talking out loud.  I can honestly say there is no right or wrong way to feel when we are about to lose a loved one. I hope you have family and friends who are supporting you but  there are many who use the chat forum just as y ou have done to seek support.  I lost my husband last year and thus my children their Dad and yes, it is the hardest thring to have to go through.  Take strength from those near you and somehow  you will cope, maybe hour by hour or day by day. Do come back and talk anytime you need to.  Take care  Jules54

  • I don't know how things have gone for you in the past 8 hours or so - I do hope you've got him home and comfortable.

Try not to think of the future now - you may have only days or even hours so concentrate on them - you'll have plenty of time to worry about that afterwards

  • Hi like you my father is loosing his battle with cancer. I feel numb, scared among other things making me feel so very much alone

I hope he managed to come home and comfortable. I have never been one to let my guard down and show emotions but from what I have seen on here there are so many people willing to listen, support and offer advice. I hope you have friends and family around you to support you. Please do come back anytime day or night , there are people always willing to listen and sometimes it's easier to write down rather than talk
