Mum diagnosed with metastatic cancer (terminal)

Hello everyone, my name is Lisa i am 37, we have recently been given the bombshell that my mum has weeks to live having being diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer, liver, kidneys, adrenal, abdominal She also has hearrt failure and low platelets. This was now five weeks ago she is now home after two weeks in hospital treating the platelets and infection and is doing quite well all things considering she is on constant oxygen she is in no pain at all but she is on steroids which we have been advised by the nurses that this is what is giving her an appetite and a sense of feeling well, she gets confused, doses quite a lot in the day but doesnt sleep very well at night, she is quite distant at times not really intereseted in talking unless spoken to.

We are in a state of complete confusion she has been given weeks to live but is showing no signs of deterioration this is now after five weeks of being very poorly, has anyone else been through the same thing are we going to be thrown into the deep in a matter of days.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Lisa

  • Hi, no my mum is not on any morphine, she isnt really in any pain so we are totally confused as the consultants said they wouldnt be able to offer any kind of treatment as the cancer is too advanced, but yey she looks really well, all things considered We have been told when she does detioriate it will be very quickly so we are taking each day as it comes.
