Chemists, how mush do they know?

So I've got tongue cancer and my check out date is supposedly January(guessimate I'll beat that easily) , anyway I have to go to the chemists so often is a joke, please believe me. I can't eat solid food so I'm on 6 bottles of Fortisip energy drink every day, this is fine, got used to it completely. So today I popped in the chemists to get my usual 2 trays of Fortisip (which is a total of 48 bottles) and I stood at the back as usual waiting to be called. The lovely lady chemist called me over and asked me would I prefer strawberry or vanilla  and I  very respectfully put my hand over my mouth just incase I dribble or spit accidentally and say that it's ok and not to worry because I cannot taste anymore and she said ok then and everything was fine picked up my Fortisip and made a quick stop at the Hot chocolate shop and drove my wonderful self home. My question(title) is my Palliative nurse calls tells me she has called the the chemist on many occasions to see if the pain meds will be waiting for me and she must have to tell them my name and that she's my palliative care nurse.  So I guess they know I'm dying or I look so good and dateable(if I keep my mouth shut) that it's to silly to even think such a thing. I know what my money's on.  I have to go because I thing I'll faint if I don't get a very large Hot Chocolate.

  • Hello Furlongs,

the curious in me ponders how it is you cannot taste strawberry or vanilla, but chocolate appears to hit the spot..How do yet you get cravings with no taste recognition. l seem to remember that during my chemo everything tasted of nothing and any craving quickly disappeared in a trough of disappointment. Anyhow its good to read that chocolate it a girls best friend, its the same for my mind and tastebuds but unfortunately my rearranged bowel does not go along with the other parts of me.

    Take care and keep slurping,

    David

  • I thank you for your well observed reply. I have recently posted some stupid stories where I have mentioned alcohol and the need to drink large quantities of as is my want so to speak. These posts where taken down because there are young people who might read the nonsense. I have apologised and rightly so I should. So whenever I mention Hot Chocolate I mean Vodka, I'm so sorry for the confusion this has caused you, my humble apologies.

  • Hello furlongs,

thanks for enlightening the stupid, and may l amend the slurping to sloshing, whatever it takes,

    David

  • Please do not reply to this David. I just thought I might give you a tiny bit of advice. Most people on the entire planet whilst reading my post about the goings on in a chemists mind, might have had some sort of EMPATHY for little old me who's dying but oh no lets call in Sherlock Homes and dissect the drinking habits of a dying man and see if he's lying. So if your therapist, and there is one of which I am no doubt asks if you are a sociopath with homicidal left wing views just nod.

    Take care  LOL
