My Wife is dying at 40 - she was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in October. Struggling to keep it together and to be strong for our 10 year old boy

My Wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver cancer back in October and ever since she has been in and out of hospital. We have a wonderful 10yr old boy who i am trying to keep it together for but really struggling without her in the house at the moment. I know i need to be strong for my boy and i am doing my best but this time of year is making so hard. I just hope she can be home for what will be our last Christmas as a family

  • Hi YoungDaddy,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm so sorry to hear of what you're going through. In a way there are no words, but I wanted to send a reply to offer some support, as well as to say that we are always here when you need it.

This must be so incredibly difficult - especially, as you say, at this time of year. I am sure you are doing the best for your boy. It's important too to find outlets where you don't have to feel the need to be strong, and where you can take time to reflect, or to speak to others.

Hopefully you have others around you that you can speak to, such as friends and family. Please also seek support elsewhere as much as you need or want to. This can include using this forum to write things down and reach out to others.

If ever you want to talk things through with someone, you are always welcome to give our nurses a call. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

As I say, I hope this forum can be of some small help.

Do keep in touch. Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
