How to Redistribute Meal Replacement Drinks

Hello

My father died from cancer at the weekend.  He had a number of unopened meal replacement drinks sent by the NHS dietician: Nutricrem, Actasolve etc.

I am wondering if there is a way to redistribute them to someone who needs them?  The dietician has said if we return them to her, protocol requires her to throw them away and suggested there might be a charity that could redistribute them?  The first couple I tried (Food bank, Cancer Support UK) have said they can't accept them unfortunately.

Any suggestions?

  • I'm afraid, due to Health & Safety, no one is able to accept unused, unopened food replacement drinks. I had pancreatitis & lived on food supplements for a year. Once I was recovered I asked my dietician & my pharmacy what to do with the remaining bottles & they advised I emptied the contents down the sink & recycle the bottles OR deliver them back to the pharmacy who destroy them. It's a terrible waste when others could make use of them but I understand the reasoning behind it.

  • My condolences on the loss of your father x
