Oesophageal cancer - husband struggling with acid reflux/vomiting

I'm writing on behalf of my husband. His cancer is advancing. We seem to be entering the stage of making him comfortable.

He's really struggling with acid reflux/vomiting, he is more or less nil by mouth because of the reflux.  The nurse has prescribed Omeorazole, Metolopromide and Ondansetron but he's still struggling. The episodes can occur without reason. Can anyone suggest anything else to try?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Trips although I'm sorry to hear about your husband and that he is having trouble with acid reflux/vomiting.

Controlling sickness in advanced cancer can be very difficult but as do keep talking with his nurse to see if there is anything else he can try as they will be in the best position to advise.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon as well, but if you'd like to speak to one of our cancer nurses about this they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They are very insightful and will do all that they can to help.

Our thoughts are with you Trips and we're sending you both all our strength and support at this very difficult time.

    Kind regards,
